Cori Gauff and Amanda Anisimova seemed to be poised to play as many matches as possible in Charleston, where the local organization set up 2 back-to-back events (WTA500 and WTA250). However, things didn’t go as planned. Coco Gauff got injured to her right hip while is she was playing against Ons Jabeur before losing 6-3 6-3.

Amanda Anisimova was craving for having a good run in South Carolina and put more matches under her belt in 2021. However, she had a heartbreaking loss against Shelby Rogers. Amanda was leading 6-1 4-1 against her compatriot before getting injured and losing in three sets while she was fighting tears.

Both Coco and Amanda were on the entry list of the second event in Charleston. Eventually, they decided not to compete probably in order not to worsen their injuries.

Coco is scheduled to play the qualification in Stuttgart in one week time. Amanda Anisimova should play her next tournament in Madrid with the event starting from the 26th of April.
