Federer says that his back pain is not a problem anymore and he is full fit for Cincinnati

Roger’s passion for tennis is not dwindling… it’s “sky high”.

Federer’s career has always been a bit influenced by a recurring back pain. In 2013 this problem became more acute to compromise Roger’s season.

After an horrible June, when he lost in the Wimbledon second round, Roger had an even worst July when he lost against Delbonis and Brands in Hamburg and Gstaad as Roger’s movements were clearly dented by his back.

The Swiss Maestro decided to skip Montreal to completely recover from his injury a try to defend his title in Cincinnati. Now he says he is “fit and mentally motivated”.

Roger: I love what I am doing…

“My passion is sky high. If the passion doesn’t overweigh all the rest, the end is extremely near. You might be doing it for the wrong reasons. But I love what I’m doing.” Said Roger

… about Hamburg and Gstaad…

“I wanted to get over Wimbledon as quickly as possible. I was ready to go in Hamburg and tried to enjoy playing. But I had too many problems in the back and the body, they came up gradually.  Gstaad I was not prepared. I played OK, it was not like I couldn’t play at all.” added the Maestro.

… pulling out from Montreal

“I really didn’t want to pull out of Montreal but it gives me more time to prepare here,” he concluded.

In Cincinnati

Roger had an unfortunate draw in Cincinnati to possibly clash with Rafael Nadal (if the Spaniard is fit after Montreal) in the quarters.

Time for Roger to get back to his level?
