Tsitsipas to face Musetti early in Monte Carlo if the Italian beats Karatsev. DRAW

Stefanos Tsitsipas may face Lorenzo Musetti in the 2nd round in Monte Carlo in what would be a rematch of the Acapulco semifinal

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas has an interesting draw in Monte Carlo and he will face either Lorenzo Musetti or Aslan Karatsev in his opening match.

The Greek sensation is having a rather peculiar 2021. Stefanos has managed to have various deep runs. He reached the final in Acapulco in the semi-finals at the Australian Open in Rotterdam. However, Tsitsipas has been struggling to go for the last mile and win tournaments, often losing matches when he is in firm control.

In the Acapulco final, he was demolishing Sascha Zverev in the first set when he also had the opportunity to lead 5-1. Eventually, he lost in straight sets. The same happened at the Miami Open against Hubert Hurkacz. Stefanos was leading by a set and a break before losing 2-6 6-3 6-4.

The Draw in Monte Carlo

In Monte Carlo, Tsitsipas will start his run from the second round. He should play either against Lorenzo Musetti or Aslan Karatsev. In the following rounds, he may face a Christian Garin and Matteo Berrettini before possibly clashing agasint Novak Djokovic in the semi-final. If the word the number 5 reaches the final, he will most probably play against Rafael Nadal.
