Rafael Nadal is a very humble guy despite all his incredible success. The 20-time slam champion, during a recent interview with Telefonica, talked about the importance of the people around him and how they helped him achieve so much success.
From a professional perspective, Rafa’s uncle Toni was absolutely essential to introduce him to tennis and coach him for most of his career.
“Without all the people who have been by my side, none of this would have been possible. What if my uncle had not introduced me to tennis or helped me decisively during practically my entire career, I would not be where I am,” said Rafa.
Nadal’s mother and father
Then Nadal talked about her father and mother and the sacrifices that they made in order to help him to chase his tennis dreams:
“If my father and my mother had not been willing to accompany me to a place every weekend and not doing the things that maybe they had other options to do, maybe they had more fun.”
Nadal added that he is extremely grateful that his friend Carlos Moya accepted to be his coach in 2017. Carlos has helped Rafa add new things to his tennis to remain competitive during the last few years.
Nadal is now fine-tuning his preparation for Monte Carlo, where he will try to conquer the title for the 12th time.
