Cori Gauff and Sofia Kenin are among the most exciting American players on the WTA tour. However, they may clash early, in the third round in Charleston.
Gauff will be opposed to Ludmila Samsonova in the second round in South Carolina while Sofia Kenin will take on fellow American player Lauren Davis. Coco had a smooth run in the first round against Tsvetana Pironkova after winning 6-3 6-0. Being seeded number two, Sofia didn’t have to play in the first round, and therefore she still needs to perform in South Carolina.
Coco and Sofia are part of a huge contingent of American players in Charleston. Only on Wednesday there will be 10 Americans competing.
