Rafael Nadal has been training in Mallorca to get ready to start his clay-courts season. The King of Clay suffered from a nasty lower back injury during the Australian Open. Therefore he decided to skip the following tournaments in Rotterdam, Acapulco, and Miami.

Rafael Nadal is always extremely focused on the clay-court season, which is definitely the most important moment of the year for the Spanish sensation, and he always aims to be fully fit to play on the dirt.

The good news is that his doctor sounded quite optimistic about Rafael Nadal’s recovery to comment:

“Nadal is training well, he is training hard. His goal is clay, first Monte-Carlo, and his final goal is Roland Garros.”

Rafael Nadal was caught training with Casper Ruud in Mallorca at his Academy and he looked to be in great shape.

Next week, Nadal is expected to play in Monte Carlo, where he won the tournament 11 times. If Nadal is fully fit, he will be the top favorite to win the tournament in the Principality.

His more dangerous opponent will be Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Some top players like Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem decided not to compete in Monte Carlo. However, the lineup is pretty strong. Unfortunately, the tournament will be staged without the presence of the fans.

Currently ranked no.3, the Spaniard played his last match on the 17th of February when he capitulated to world no.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas 3-6 2-6 7-6(4) 6-4 7-5 in the quarter of the Australian Open (draw).
