Genie Bouchard loses to Kvitova in Toronto… but with honour!

The Canadian tennis is getting better. The North Americans do not have only Milos Raonic, but they can count of very interesting youngsters such as Genie Bouchard and Filip Peliwo.

After getting a wild card for the main draw, Genie had a good start in her opener to concede only 4 games to Alisa Kleybanova. The second round with Petra Kvitova, he defending champion,  was definitely a tougher test.

Genie lost the match 6-3 6-2, but she pushed Petra in almost every game. The Canadian struggled a bit on her serve (8 double faults) and in converting break points (1 out of 6), but we are sure she will make the most out of it from this defeat. Match Stats

Bouchard: It was tougher than the score would indicate

After he match Genie commented “I think she played really well and you have to give it to her, but I do think it was a hard-fought battle and tougher than the score would indicate.

I’ve worked hard my whole life and I want to become a top 10 player, so I have to play the best. I love the opportunity. Even if I wasn’t playing at my best, I was fighting my best.”

Than the Canadian added  “I felt I wasn’t playing my best. I usually rely on my serve to dominate the point and control, and I wasn’t doing that as well today, so I was a bit frustrated.”

Next vs. Stosur

Petra Kvitova will play Sam Stosur in the third round. Head to head is 4-1 for Petra, but Sam has won the last one. Details
