We had a very good start from Eugenie Bouchard.
If many think that Sloane Stephens is the new Serena Williams, others think that Genie Bouchard will be the next Maria Sharapova. That’s a good prospect for both.
Genie had a wonderful opener to concede only 4 games to the world no.599 Alisa Kleybanova. The Canadian was always full control of the match to win 64 points vs. Kleybanova’s 39.
Bouchard: I wanted to play aggressive
“I just decided to go for it and started to play aggressive. That definitely helped me.” Said Genie.
Talking about her confidence at playing in the tour she commented. “Yeah, I am relaxed. It’s fun. It’s just fun being home where people know you a bit more. But besides that I know I need to stay focused on what I need to do or else I will lose my concentration.
“So I put pressure on myself and that’s really all I think about my own expectations.”
Next vs. Kvitova
Genie will play seed no.6 Petra Kvitova in the second round. This is the first match between these two.
