Jannik Sinner is about to play his first final at ATP1000 level at the Miami Open. The word number 31 is often compared to Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic for his great, tennis and resilience. However, there is something more that makes Jannik similar to the Big3.The upcoming Italian has always stated the importance of improving and changing his game continuously. This is a key characteristic for the success of the big3 according to Sinners’ coach Riccardo Piatti.

During a recent interview, Riccardo made an interesting comparison with Roger Federer when the Swiss Sensation won his first tournament in Milan back in 2001:
“Roger Federer when he won Milan the first time is not the Roger Federer playing now and it’s the same for Djokovic and Rafa. They’re improving a lot and they are changing a lot. I think Jannik has this kind of potential.”
Sinner in Miami, ranking, and results in 2021
At the moment ranked no.31 (career-high), the Italian owns a compiled 14-4 win-loss record in 2021. Jannik is playing at the moment in Miami where he ousted Hugo Gaston 6-2 6-2, Karen Khachanov 4-6 7-62 6-4, Emil Ruusuvuori 6-3 6-2, Alexander Bublik 7-65 6-4 and Roberto Bautista Agut 5-7 6-4 6-4.
Jannik Sinner will compete against the world no.37 Hubert Hurkacz in the final on Sunday at 1 pm on Grandstand. In the past, they have never competed against each other as of now in top events.
Jannik clinched 1 title in 2021 in Melbourne.
Rafael Nadal in 2021
Currently the world no.3, Rafael played his last match on the 17th of February when he lost to world no.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas 3-6 2-6 7-6(4) 6-4 7-5 in the quarter of the Australian Open (draw).
Until now, during this year the Spaniard has a compiled 4-1 record.
Jannik Sinner and Rafael Nadal squared off only once. Their head to head is 1-0 for Nadal. When they played, Rafael Nadal won 7-6(4) 6-4 6-1 in the quarter in Paris (French Open) in October 2020.

Roger Federer in 2021
Ranked no.6, the Swiss played his last match on the 11th of March when he capitulated to world no.38 Nikoloz Basilashvili 3-6 6-1 7-5 in the quarter in Doha (draw).
During this season Federer has a 1-1 win-loss record.
Novak Djokovic in 2021
Ranked world no.1, the Serbian played his last match on the 21st of February when he overcame world no.2 Daniil Medvedev 7-5 6-2 6-2 in the final of the Australian Open to win his 82nd career title.
At present, during this year Djokovic has a 9-0 record. The Serbian conquered 1 title at the Australian Open.
Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic played each other 50 times. The head to head is 27-23 for Djokovic. The last time they played, Novak Djokovic won 7-6(1) 6-4 6-3 in the semifinal in Melbourne (Australian Open) in January 2020.
