Last week has been rather good for Vika till the very last day.
The Belarus reached the final in Carlsbad to be badly upset by Sam Stosur in a match where the world no.3 didn’t really play at her best. The reason was rather clear as Vika was dented by an injury to her lower back.
Vika: I am dissappointed I can’t make it
So the former world no.1 had to retire from Toronto and that was announced with the following statement “I’m so disappointed that I can’t make it to Toronto as I added it to my schedule knowing what an important event it is,
I am sorry to all my Canadian fans and I will work hard to get healthy and back on the courts as soon as possible.”
Vika’s place will be taken by seed no.9 Caroline Wozniacki that will receive a bye to the second round.
