The world no.3 used to be one of the biggest highlights of the ATP500 that is yearly played in Acapulco. However, he decided not to play the event, stating that he has been struggling with the lower back injury that occurred during the Australian Open.
Acapulco Tournament Director Raul Zurutuza revealed he was not worried about Nadal not playing to say: “This year’s event is very good. We have three top 10 and most of the top 50 players. We have played without Rafa for several years and nothing happened.”

Sascha Zverev is opposed to Alcaraz Garcia in his opener, while Tsitsipas will face Benoit Paire. Diego Schwartzman will take on a qualifier.
