Roger Federer survives Daniel Evans 7-6(8) 3-6 7-5 in the 2nd round in Doha on Wednesday after winning a huge battle. Federer will try to go further in the tournament when playing against Nikoloz Basilashvili in the quarter. The battle lasted 2 hours and 24 minutes. Roger won this tournament 3 times in 2005, 2006 and 2011. Here you can see his history at this event.
Roger added to his prize money $ 8,265 after conquering this match. He has won already $ 25,045 after this win. If he wins the next match, Federer will add $ 11,895 to his earnings to get in total $ 36,940 in total.
Federer was delighted about the outcome. He commented:
“I was really excited and happy the way I played. Dan was a tough first round, I thought, but the good thing was I practised with him the past couple of weeks, so I really knew what to expect. It’s just that when we were practising, the court was faster in the past so this was slower.
I knew it could be a little bit tricky, [working out] how to construct the point against him on a slow court, but look, it felt great to be out there again regardless of the outcome. Losing in straight , winning in straight , winning in three [sets], it’s going to give me a lot of answers. [It will be] interesting to see how I’m going to feel tomorrow, but right now I feel actually pretty good, so I’m really pleased.”
