Cori Gauff has always stated that her career was inspired by 23-tim slam champion Serena Williams. Coco’s father has been her coach since the beginning of her career following the example of Serena’s dad Richard. While the 16-year-old is aiming at becoming one of the greatest in the sport, she hasn’t dropped her admiration for Serena.

During an interview, Coco stressed the fact that it is irrelevant if Serena Williams conquers her elusive 24th slam or not. According to Coco, Serena will remain the greatest.
“I consider her the greatest tennis player of all time right now. I’ll look at her that way whether she gets 24 or not. I’m also competing in the same field as her so I want to win also. When I watch her play, I normally am rooting for her.”
