Wow! What a surprise!
The Russian beauty has just part ways with her previous coach Thomas Hogstedt. There was some persistent rumour that her new coach would have been Larry Stefanki, the former coach of Andy Roddick. That was also wrong as incredibly enough Maria’s new coach will be the tennis legend (and former bad guy) Jimmy Connors.

I have known Jimmy for many years and we briefly worked together in 2008 just before the Australian Open. I am really excited about our new partnership and looking forward to the upcoming tournaments.” commented Maria.
About Jimmy
“Jimbo” is now 61 and he was a truly favourite from his home crowd. He won 8 slams (5 US Open, 2 Wimbledon and 1 Australian Open). He won a record (and possibly unreachable) 109 career titles.
Is this going to be a sort of (very successful) Lendl / Murray Partnership?
