Amanda Anisimova had a rather rough start to the season. The American sensation played only 1 match so far and that was in the W25 in Orlando. In January, Anisimova traveled to the Middle East to then head to Melbourne for the Australian Open. Unfortunately, Amanda got infected by the Coronavirus and she missed the charter for Melbourne to skip the entire Australian swing. Eventually, Anisimova decided to play the W25 in Orlando, but she had to concede a walkover in the second round.
Anisimova in Doha and Dubai
Amanda Anisimova decided to play the Middle East swing to fly to Doha. Eventually, she had to retire from the event, citing a problem with her ankle. Fortunately, Anisimova released a statement saying that she is expected to play in Dubai.
“Hi everyone,
It’s hard for me to share this news but a couple days ago I fell and hurt my ankle. It was an accident and not tennis-related. Thankfully it’s not too bad. I am so disappointed to be missing yet another tournament. The start of the year has not been easy, but I am so impatient to get back on the court. I am planning on playing in Dubai next.”
