Serena Williams looked completely distraught when she lost to Naomi Osaka in the Australian Open semifinal. The American legend has been chasing her 24th slam for a long time, but she has never managed to reach what many things would be her last Hurrah.

Serena had to leave in tears the press conference that followed her demise as she was too upset to answer the questions from the journalists.

When Serena will retire

Soon after losing to Naomi, Serena stopped on the court to thanks her fans and many interpreted that action as bidding farewell to the local crowd.

Serena’s coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, during a recent interview with People confirmed that Serena has no intention of quitting at least before winning yet another slam.

I don’t think she will stop until she at least wins a Grand Slam, because she came back to win Grand Slams. She doesn’t quit,” he said.

“I don’t think she planned [to retire] for this certain moment. She’s dedicated all her life to tennis since she was a kid. So the day she will retire, she will feel like she’s giving an end to 40 years of a life.”

The schedule

Serena will not play any tournament any soon. She is widely expected to come back to competitions on the occasion of the Miami Open that will be staged from the 22nd of March.
