Naomi Osaka is becoming more and more the face of women’s tennis, not only for her amazing success but also for her activism and willingness to give importance to the right things.
In a recent statement, Naomi revealed that she wanted to dedicate her title to the people that are still struggling after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that affected so much many lives in Japan.
“I would like to thank everyone in Japan for their continued warm support,” she commented. “Since I heard there was another large quake in Japan recently, I also want to dedicate this win to those whose lives have still yet to be fully put back together following the ravages of the Great East Earthquake and Tsunami,” commented Naomi.
In her statement, Naomi didn’t forget to mention the people that are struggling during this pandemic. Unfortunately, the United States has just reached a horrible milestone with more than half a million people dead because of the Covid-19.
“Seeing as we are still contending with the coronavirus on a daily basis, I would like to dedicate this victory to the people around the world who are doing what they can to help us escape its shadow.
Although there has been a lot of sad news lately regarding the coronavirus and earthquakes, I think that we need to remember the importance of life and have an open heart to help one another in times like these,” she added.
