Jennifer Brady has been hitting the headlines all over the world after reaching her first slam final at the Australian Open. Jennifer will try to conquer her 1st major, but to do that she needs to overcome a huge obstacle in the final: Naomi Osaka.
Coach Michael Geserer
Fortunately, Jennifer will rely on the guidance of her coach Michael Geserer. Brady took the difficult decision to leave the US to train in Germany in Regensburg. Jennifer admitted that that was not an easy step, but it was highly beneficial.
“It was a great time. I have seldom worked so well and methodically before. Geserer is a coach who has a precise plan. There is never wasted time,” she commented.
Geserer (51) used to coach Philipp Kohlschreiber and Julia Goerges before siding with the American. He is also quite happy with his partnership with Jennifer. He is particularly impressed with her effort and the heart she puts into her profession.
“We had a good connection and I liked her work ethic. And I also liked the heart. She left everything on the court,” he commented.
The hard lockdown
Jennifer also impressed by the fact that she managed to remain fit during the hard lockdown in Melbourne. She was one of the unlucky players that could not leave the room for 14 days. Instead of whining like some of her colleagues, she found a way to stay strong.
“The first day I got there I had grocery delivery, so I had oats delivered,” she said about the hard lockdown. “Every morning I would have oats, oatmeal and then I would actually order Uber Eats for lunch and dinner every single day.
So I didn’t eat one of the meals that were provided. I ordered Hunky Dory the first seven days, every single day, sometimes twice a day.
I’m a creature of habit, so I eat pretty much the same thing every single day. There were three places I would mix it up between.”
Jennifer also had to good idea not to stay glued to the screen to say:
“I actually didn’t watch one Netflix series just because I knew if I started something then I wouldn’t want to do anything else except just lay in bed and watch Netflix.”
