Naomi Osaka expressed her satisfaction with Seiko Hashimoto’s appointment as the new president of the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee. The appointment came after the resignation of the 83-year-old’s Yoshiro Mori following his sexist remarks.

Naomi was elated for having a woman holding that position for what was seen as a statement after Mori’s gaffe. Naomi was happy as she sees the move toward equality. She commented:

“I think for me, what it means is that there’s a lot of things I think people used to accept, the things that used to be said, but you’re seeing the newer generation not tolerate a lot of things.”

“I feel like it’s really good because you’re pushing forward, barriers are being broken down, especially for females”

Osaka’s opinion is extremely important because the world no.3 is widely considered the face of the Games.
