Rafael Nadal has won the title in Monte-Carlo 11 times and in all sorts of conditions and against all sorts of opponents. Rafa may conquer his 12th title in the Principality in a completely new environment this year: without fans.

We wish to inform you that the ROLEX MONTE-CARLO MASTERS will take place from 10 to 18 April behind closed doors, in accordance with the latest government measures which extend the state of health emergency until May 3, 2021.
Our teams remain fully mobilised and motivated to welcome the best players in the world who, despite this particularly difficult period, will be here to provide a spectacular event.
Please note that this 114th edition of the Monte-Carlo tournament will be broadcast on television from 11 to 18 April on Eurosport, and on April 17 and 18 also on C8
In the meantime, dear Spectators, please accept our very best regards.”
The tournament was not played in 2020 because of the global pandemic. Therefore, the defending champion is Fabio Fognini that in 2019 won the event after beating Dusan Lajovic in the final 6-3 6-4.

Ranked no.2, Rafael has achieved a compiled 2-0 win-loss record in 2021. Rafael is now competing at the Australian Open where he overcame Laslo Djere 6-3 6-4 6-1 and Michael Mmoh 6-1 6-4 6-2.
Rafael Nadal will come up against Norrie in the 3rd round. In the past, they have never played each other as of now on the main tour.

Ranked world no.17, the Italian has managed to achieve a composed 5-3 record in 2021. The Italian is currently having a run at the Australian Open where he overcame Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-4 6-2 6-3 and Salvatore Caruso 4-6 6-2 2-6 6-3 7-612.
Fabio Fognini will compete against De Minaur in the 3rd round. They have never competed against each other up to now in top events.
