Simon and Feliciano Lopez to clash for Eastbourne title

Simon and Feliciano Lopez will try to get their first title of the season.

It’s actually interesting how the so called “warm-up” tournaments are finally more than a warm-up for tennis players. In fact, Simon hasn’t won a title so far this year and we are sure he would be more than happy to bring the top trophy at home. Same story for Feliciano (or Deliciano to use Andy Murray’s mother words) as the Spaniard has won “only” 2 ATP titles in his career, so we are sure that a third one would be really appreciated.

Simon – Seppi 6-4 6-3

This was a one way traffic as it took only 84 minutes for Gilles to down the Italian. The match wasn’t of a great quality with only 2 aces between the two and 9 breaks (Seppi was broken 6 times out of 10 service games… not good on grass).

Talking about the final Simon commented “It’s always strange situation, but at the end of the day I just have to focus on the first one. I think it’s going to be a tough match against him. He’s a very good grass court player and I think he played a great tournament until now. So I just hope I would play the same kind of tennis as today.”

Lopez – Dodig 7-6 (3) 6-1

Even if there was an incredible wind, this was more a “grass like match” with Feliciano winning without conceding a single break point. The first set was a close encounter with the Spaniard winning at the breaker (no breaks). Then Ivan imploded in the second set to lost 6-1.

“This is tennis, and sometimes these things can happen. In a way it is good, because tomorrow if I win or if I lose, I will take some feedback for the match on Tuesday, and I think for him the same.” said Feliciano about his next match.
