Ashleigh Barty, Simona Halep, Sofia Kenin and Elina Svitolina are going to top the draw of the upcoming WTA event that will be played in Doha (1-6th March).
The tournament will be staged right before the WTA1000 that will be played in Dubai the following week.
Entry list without Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams, Azarenka
It is quite noticeable that the only top players that will not be part of this draw are Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams and Vika Azarenka.
Naomi is well-known for being rather careful with her schedule and she has recently revealed that she will not compete in the Middle East. Serena is not very keen to travel around too much especially during this pandemic, to put her focus fully on Grand Slams. Azarenka has recently crashed out in the first round of the Australian Open with some undisclosed health issues. She has also withdrawn from the upcoming event in Adelaide.
