We have an incredible twist at the top of the rankings. Rafa breezed past Ferrer in the Roland Garros final to win a record 8th title in Paris… and Ferrer overtakes Rafa in the rankings.
Why the odd overtake
How did it happen? Easy to explain. By winning the 2013 Roland Garros, Rafa ha just defended his last year’s point (as he won also in 2012). By Reaching the final David Ferrer added 480 points as last year he reached (1200pts from this year – 720 points from 2012).
Rafa to be world no.1?
But from now on we can expect Rafa climbing fast at the top of the rankings as he does need to defend any point from now till the next Australian Open, so the King of Clay could incredibly aim at becoming world no.1.
Janowicz, Haas Monfils on a roll
Regarding the other players Jerzy Janowicz got a career high 22 and incredibly enough Tommy Haas is now world no.11.
Gael Monfils is on his way to the top of the rankings. The Frenchman gain 14 place to be world no.67… still a long way to go.
Tipsarevic in free fall
Finally Janko Tipsarevic is in free fall to lose other 2 places and be ranked world no.14
