Naomi Osaka will probably be the face of the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo. The world no.3 is extremely popular in Japan and she was asked to give her opinion about the recent sexist remarks of the Tokyo Olympics’ chief organizer, Yoshiro Mori (83). Mr. Mori is at the center of a huge controversy after he said that women speak for too long during meetings. Even if he apologized for the gaffe, he refused to step down.
It was an ignorant statement. OSAKA
During the press conference, Naomi commented:
“I feel like that was a really ignorant statement to make. I think that someone that makes comments like that, they need to have more knowledge on the thing that they’re talking about.
I also want to hear the reasoning behind those comments. I also want to hear the perspective of everyone else that surrounds him.”
Naomi will kick start her Australian Open campaign on Monday against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The head to head is 1-1. Osaka won the Australian Open back in 2019. Last year she crashed out as early as the 3rd round at the hands of Coco Gauff.
