Rafa makes history!!!
The King of Clay wins his 8th French Open in great fashion by conceding only 8 games to his dear friend David Ferrer.
Everybody was expecting this final to be just a sort of “stamp” on a very good tournament when Nadal made a decisive move by defeating Novak Djokovic in a dramatic semifinal.
This is Rafa’s 12th slam to aim at tying great Pete Sampras that got 14 majors
From Rafa
A clearly moved Rafa said “It’s one of the most special ones.
In the last year I have had some low moments but without my family I would not have done this. Without my physio I could not have done this. I never realized something like this could happen for me.”
From David
A still happy Ferrer conceded “I enjoyed the two weeks here. I congratulate Rafa, he’s the best,
But I will try my best to have another chance to play in a final and win a grand slam. This tournament is very special to me.”
Well done to the King of Clay… definitely the most dominant player in tennis history on a specific surface!
