Stefanos Tsitsipas explained why he was so happy with his tennis when facing Team Spain during the ATP Cup

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas looks already at his very best after he shined in the first 2 matches of the ATP Cup. Stefanos dismissed Alex De Minaur and Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets and he sounded elated after he beat the Spaniard.

After the match, Tsitsitpas revealed that he was happy not only with his forehand and serve, but also with how he executed his game plan. The world no.6 commented:

“It was a good match. I think I played very solid throughout the whole match and showed aggression. My forehand was on fire, my serve was working really well for me. I executed my game plan very well and had a clear picture of what I was intending to do out on the court.”

There are some thoughts that Tsitsipas has peaked too early as his current form would be a great one to keep in a plausible second week at the Australian Open. The Greek sensation didn’t seem too worried about it.

Eventually, team Greece won the tie against Spain after Carreno Busta had to withdraw from the doubles, citing a stomach issue. Despite the win, it was Team Spain to have qualified for the semifinals when they are going to face team Italy.
