Ferrer beats Tsonga to reach the French Open final

This semifinal was easier than expected for David.

The world no.5 had to “just” play his trademark and solid tennis to get to the final without much struggle. Jo this time didn’t display his best tennis to fall in straight sets.

This will be Ferrer’s first major final in his career… so far nobody had to play so many slams before to reach his first final…. better late than never!

From David

“I’m very, very happy. This tournament is very special for me and to be the first final of Grand Slam in Roland Garros is amazing,” said David.

“Now I want to enjoy this moment, to rest tomorrow, and to try my best in the final.”

From Jo

“The plan was to try to be aggressive, to control the match, to take control of the baseline and try to stay in the court and make him run,

But it was tough because he defended well, and I always felt like I have to play the perfect shot, to put him out of position.” commented the Frenchman.

The Final vs. Rafa

David will play his first Grand Slam final against the worst possible player: Rafa on clay. Head to head is 19-4 for Rafa (16-1 on clay). Nadal is the overwhelming favorite to win his 8th title, but David got to this final perfectly prepared without having conceded a single set.

He will do everything to get it!
