2011 hs been a remarkable year for Petra Kvitova. After making history by winning Wimbledon she grabs also the prestigious WTA Championship title.
‘I didn’t expect that I would be sitting here as a champion. It’s really a big step for me,’ Kvitova said.
After a head start (5-0) in the opening set, she suffered the Azareka comeback (5-5) to fight back and win 7-5.
The Bielarus managed to win the second set by 6-4, but she had to surrender in the decider where the Czech made the best of her powerful serve. (6-3)
She has a really big serve,’ said Azarenka ‘In the important moments, it’s really saving her… I could break her more often.’
Kvitova will be Nr.2 in the WTA rankings.
