It’s Djokovic vs Federer in the Abu Dhabi semi final Mubadala World Tennis Championship

World Nr.1 Novak Djokovic won a 3 sets match vs Gael Monfils. Even if none of the players looked to be in top form, they put up a nice show in a ‘relaxed match’.

The quality of the match was pretty low (lot’s of sloppy errors) in the first set won by the Serb 6-2. Then Monfils improved his game to win the second 6-4. In the decider a slightly more focussed Djokovic managed to regroup and win it 6-2.

Both players did not look fit for a competitive match. Djokovic had an incredible series of unforced errors (once he even missed completely missed the ball while hitting an easy forehand) and Monfils had many problems in terms of consistency (more then ever). But the professionality and the natural nice attitude of both made the match worth viewing it.

If Novak does not improve his quality of the game and Federer has the same tennis of the end of the 2011 season, it will be very hard for the Serb.

On the other side Ferrer had a very good win against the other Frenchman managing to come back from 1 set down, 2-6 7-6 (5) 6-2, and he will play his fellow countryman Rafael Nadal in the semis.
