Ahi ahi… For the second consecutive year Murray tumbles at Indian Wells.
Last year it was with Donald Young 7-6 (4), 6-3
This time he lost with Garcia Lopez that played a very high quality match (much above the standard of a player of his ranking). The result was a humiliating 6-4 6-2. The horrible thing is that Murray had 7 break points and he failed to convert all of them.
‘He hardly missed a ball all night,’ Murray commented. ‘I didn’t make him hit shots that he didn’t want to hit.’
‘I am not sure what happened tonight,’ Murray said. ‘I was coming back to the locker room and you are thinking.’Why did it happen?’ Last year it was a lot easier for me to look at it and know why.’
‘I am going to have to go away and think about what happened,’ Murray said. ‘He plays with a lot of spin. It felt like I was playing a match on clay court. I squandered so many chances.’
Time to regroup and talk to Ivan about that!
