A great Tsonga upsets Federer in Paris

This was one of the best days of Tsonga’s career!

The Frenchman had an unexpected easy win against the Maestro 7-5, 6-3, 6-3 in 1 hour and 51 minutes to reach the semifinal in Paris for the first time.

From Jo

“For me, it’s maybe one of my best victories,” said Tsonga. “The tournament is not finished, and I hope I will have some more.

Sport is beautiful because you can always do something. Even if you play the best player in the world, you have a chance. Because the guy in front of you only has two legs, two arms, one head.”

From Roger

“I thought he played great today,” said Roger . “He was, in all areas, better than me today. That’s why the result was pretty clean.

I was impressed by the way he played today. I think I struggled a little bit everywhere. To be honest, personally, I’m pretty sad about the match and the way I played.”

Next vs. Ferrer

Jo will play Ferrer in the semifinal. David had an impressive winagainst a tired Robredo conceding only 4 games to his fellow countryman.

Head to head is 3-1 for Ferrer, 1-0 for the Spaniard on clay. Interesting enough both Ferrer and Tsonga didn’t drop a set in the entire tournament.
