Errani wins singles and doubles at the 2012 WTA Barcelona Open

Sara Errani had a remarkable week in Barcelona where she won both singles and doubles without dropping a set. Even more remarkable was her last day when she won both finals dropping only and aggregate 6 games.

After the single final Errani commented ‘Clay courts are probably better for me than for Cibulkova. She hits very hard and is very fast, but while she can hit two winners in a row, she can also hit consecutive errors – knowing that I knew I had to keep up with her pace, keep the ball deep and be very solid, but also stay aggressive.’

In a very emotional statement Sara dedicated the tournament to Piermario Morosini, the Italian footballer who died on Saturday after collapsing on the field.
‘This tournament is for Piermario Morosini,’ said Errani.  ‘It has been very hard. The images have impacted me a lot. It’s amazing that these things can happen. It really makes you think. It brings you back to reality and makes you realise many of the things we complain about in life are just pure nonsense.

‘You have to enjoy every minute of life.’

Good tournament… good thinking…
