Ivan Ljubicic retires from tennis – YouTube Video Tribute

After Gonzales, another tennis legend retires this year.

As already announced, Ivan Ljubicic retires after his last match in Monte-Carlo with fellow countryman Ivan Dodig (lost 6-0 6-3… but this is not important).

Ivan had a wonderful career and he was (and still is) a role model for the entire tennis community. The Croat was overwhelmed by emotions when some of his career highlights and Roger Federer tribute were screened on the court after his match.

“I felt like it could end up emotional but I didn’t expect it this big, this emotional. Obviously, it’s the end of something beautiful for me,” Ljubicic told a news conference.

“It was a tough day for me both on the court and off the court. I knew my mind was everywhere else but on the tennis court.”

“For me, it’s a special place. In 1999, big tennis started here for me, qualifying, beating Andriy Medvedev and Yevgeni Kafelnikov,” Ljubicic said. “In a way, to wrap it up and finish off here… I think it was the right place to do that.”

Ivan will spend sometimes with his family and we are very to know that he will be still involved in the tennis world.

Good Luck Ivan!
