Nadal demolishes Djokovic to win his 8th straight title in Monte-Carlo – 2012 ATP Rolex Masters

It’s super Rafa. A real great one!

There were many question marks in Monte-Carlo

First, the Spaniard  had on his path his biggest nemesis: Novak Djokovic. The Serb defeated him for the the last 7 stright finals and Nadal didn’t beat him for 18 months. Second, Rafa was coming out a injury that made him pull out from the semis in Miami. Third, Rafa did not win a tournament since 10 months.

But this time it didn’t take a genius to immediately understand he was going to make it. Rafa entered the court 300% focussed to win also this final. The first game… well.. that was not really good for the Spaniard. Nole won it service game at 0. But that was it. Rafa kicked back to break twice the world nr. 1 and win the set 6-3 with full disply of his terrible ground strokes.

The second set was relatively easy. The King of Clay was jumping up and down smelling blood. On the other side of the court Nole was completely passive. It was clear that he could not get his usual focus … and you can’t afford that with Nadal.  The Spaniard immediately got a 4-0 lead. Then Novak managed to broke him to narrow the gap to 4-1. Was him on the way back? Not really. Rafa broke back again to finally win his service game and snatch the second set 6-1.

It’s his 47th career title, the 20th 1000 Master and most important of all his 8th straight title in Montecarlo. This is an unbeleivable achievement!

Well Done!
