Serena Williams trashes Azarenka to win the title in Madrid

Serena’s tennis was really incredible.. almost disturbing.

It was a no context from the very beginning with the American throwing everything she could at her opponent. Vika had no answers whatsoever.

The world nr. 1 managed to get on the scoreboard only in the 5th game when she was 4-0 down. The first set ended 6-1.

The start of the second set was no different with Serena grabbing a 3-0 lead. Then she started to become a bit more human to play just a very good tennis for the rest of the set to win it.

From Serena

“I think Victoria is the player to beat,” Williams said. “She has won I don’t know how many tournaments this year alone. That’s an amazing amount. So if you look at the stats, you just have to put her up there as the player to beat.”

From Vika

“She was so much better than me today. I have to give her credit, she’s been showing great tennis the whole week,” Azarenka said. “It wasn’t going my way today, but things happen. From here I can take the positive things from what I’ve been doing all week, and then see the clear picture of what I need to improve.”

Serena will be ranked world nr.6 after this tournament and you can bet she is going for more.
