Routine day at the Roland garros in the men’s draw where all seeds won their games.
NADAL – BOLELLI 6-2 6-2 6-1
The most important match of the day was Nadal’s with the Spaniard trying to reach a whopping 7th title at the French Open.
The unlucky guy to play Rafa in the first round was Bolelli.
The Italian won only 5 games to be completely outplayed by the King of Clay.
It was interesting the fact that the second set was a close encounter with Rafa struggling to contain the Italian’s comeback from a 0-4 deficit. The remarkable stuff? Even if the Italian played very well in that particular stint to go back to 2-4 and to have few break points to get back the break down…. after all that effort… finally he lost the set with a meagre 6-2.
“I think I did what I had to do today. I’m happy. I played probably with less stress or nerves than in other first rounds in the past,” Nadal said
Then a bit of a controversy about the centre court.
“I’m not the right player to say I don’t like that court. That’s the first thing,” he replied “But I know an opinion that it’s true it’s not an easy court. Difficult court to play. A lot of wind around. The conditions can be very difficult to play,”
“Because a lot of days in the outside court, the wind is almost zero, and you go to the center and you feel the wind. So it’s a little bit strange thing, but that happens.”
