Besides Bartoli’s upset, that was fully deserved given the good match played by Petra Martic, it was an ordinary day.

Back to normal for Vika. After being almost upset in the previous round by Alberta Brianti (see article), the world no.1 got back to her usual tennis to concede only 2 games.
“Definitely played much better today,” said an elated Azarenka.
Azarenka will play Wozniak in the next round.
Head to Head 2-1 for Azarenka that lost to her 6 years ago when Vika had to retire in the final in Pittsburgh.
RADWANSKA – VENUS WILLIAMS 6-2 6-3
At the end of the day it wasn’t a tricky match for the Pole. Agnieszka is in fine form and it was a mountain to climb for Venus. The match lasted only 1 hour with Venus committing 33 unforced errors (almost 2 per game!).
Radwanska will play Kuznetsova. Head to Head is 9-3 for Kuznetsova (1-0 on clay at the French Open in 2009), but it’s a different world.
MARTIC – BARTOLI 6-2 3-6 6-3
What a psyco drama here.
Marion could not perform at all.
She was a nervous wreck, continuosly overstressed, giving worrying glances at his father that looked unable to cope with (and conceal)his disappointment.
It looked as it was another sad chapter of this tumultous familiar-tennis relationship. Last year playing in Wimbledon she banned his father from the crowd after losing the first set with Pennetta to win the match in 3 epic sets. This year… well maybe that would would have been the solution again.
At the end of the day it was the world no.50 to get through.
