Djokovic – Murray will play in the semifinal – 2012 Olympics Games

MURRAY – ALMAGRO 6-4 6-1

A match blessed by the presence of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with a super confident Murray couldn’t finish in any other way. Almagro is a very solid player, but he is not the strongest on grass. So it took just 59 minutes for the Scott to win this match. The result is also a bit misleading as Murray’ superiority was quite obvious as he 61 points vs Almagro’s 30 (25-8 in the second set). Andy will have a couple of shots to be the first Great Britain’s tennis player to win a medal in 100 years. “It’s great, that was the goal coming into the tournament,” said Murray, on the prospect of winning an Olympic medal. “It’s nice to get the opportunity. It makes a big difference to play in front of a home crowd. It does add a little bit of extra pressure, but it helps raise your game.”

DJOKOVIC – TSONGA 6-1 7-5

Masterpiece match by Nole, a remarkable performance. The first set was just spotless. It seems as the 2011 Nole was back in full steam. Incredible returns, very high rythm, Nole was everywhere. It could only finish 6-1 for the Serb. Then Jo staged a very good comeback in the second set to grab a 3-1 lead, but Nole was too much to break immediately back and to go toe to toe with the Frenchman till the end of the set when the Serb won it 7-5.

“I’m very satisfied with my game today,” admitted Djokovic. “I was very sharp, very aggressive from the start. I think it was the windiest day I’ve played here in recent years…  I’m really satisfied that I managed to find a way to play well.”

“Tsonga is a great competitor and he is very powerful from the baseline,” said Djokovic. “So, for me, the right thing to do today was to use my serve as efficiently as possible in these windy, tough conditions and try to get as many returns back in the court as possible.”

Tsonga said “It was not easy today, the court was tough to play. Today, I was a bit tired so it was mission impossible.”

HEAD TO HEAD 8-5 for Nole.

They have never played on grass. This year the played each other 3 times, 2-1 for Nole that won the semis at the Australian Open in an epic 6-3 3-6 6-7(4) 6-1 7-5
