Tomic wins after 7 weeks to face Djokovic – 2012 Rogers Cup Toronto

This shouldn’t make the headlines, but the fact that the most promising tennis teenager was in a terrible six-match losing streak was a bit awkward.

Finally after 7 weeks, Bernard managed to get to the second round by defeating the world no.131 in 3 sets. This was quite refreshing for the Australian that now he feels much more confident for his next round against the seed no.1 Novak Djokovic.

Condidence is coming back

“It’s a really good feeling. … Seven weeks in a row I’ve been losing, and I think the opportunity here to play and play well is good, and confidence that I need,” Tomic said.

“I am just happy that I won my match finally, and I’ve got confidence leading into the next important match.”

Can Tomic upset Nole?

Even if it is highly unluckily, we may have a surprise as the only time the 2 players faced each other on the hard it was in an unofficial match at the AAMI Classic in Australia where Tomic won 6-4 3-6 7-5 in 2010.

The Australian also gave hard time to Nole in the 2011 quarters in Wimbledon when he lost 6-2 3-6 6-3 7-5.
