We keep on having surprises at the Rogers Cup in Montreal as the top players are struggling.
As per the men’s draw in Toronto, the women’s one in Montreal is not going as expected. Sharapova and both Williams pulled out the tournament, Jankovic was trashed by home favourite Aleksandra Wozniak 6-2 6-3 and Ana Ivanovic couldn’t score a game against the world no.28 Roberta Vinci. Radwanska was very close to be upset.
Ivanovic annihilation was quite embarassing because it did not come from a top player like Sharapova or Serena. The total points scored shows once again the magnitude of this defeat (53-21 for the Italian).
Agnieszka was also struggling a lot in her game to defeat the world no.37 only in the third set tiebreak after 2 hours and 12 minutes. Mona Barthel is a very dagnerous and unpredictable player, but still… the Radwanska was not at her best.
In the other matches Li Na defeated wildcard Bouchard 6-4 6-4, Bartoli downed Pend 6-1 6-3.
