Super Mom Kim Clijsters plays her last match to retire

“I want to thank Kim,” Robson told the crowd after defeating the Super Mom, “for being such a great role model to me for so many years.” We all agree.

That was the last match of a very insipiring player. Kim lost 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) to 18 years old Laura Robson of England, but that is not the breaking news.

Her comments

After her match Kim maintained that that was the right place to end up her career.

“It’s the place that has inspired me so much to do well and to do great things. It’s hard to explain sometimes why,” Clijsters said in the on-court interview “This completely feels like the perfect place to retire,” Clijsters told the spectators . “I just wish it wasn’t today.”

“Since I retired the first time, it’s been a great adventure for my team and my family,” said Clijsters, “It’s all been worth it. But I do look forward to the next part of my life coming up.”

The Achievements

Kim had a wonderful career to win 41 career titles, 4 slams (the US Open in 2005, 2009, 2010 and the Australian Open in 2011).  The 2009 title in New York was quite special as she went there unseeded ad unranked to produce an incredible comeback.

The Belgian did something extraorinary by having an early retirement in 2007 to then come back in 2009 and win 3 slams and be back to world no.1 as a mother!!!

Role Model

Why is Kim such as role model? She is not the typical super-tall and incredibly powerful player that blasts . She is a very humble person that made her way through the rankings by smiling, being super focused and working hard, very hard.  All of this without any trace of arrogance.

Thanks a lot Kim and enjoy the rest of the jouney!
