Ferrer and Kohlschreiber to clash in Auckland final

Ferrer keeps on marching in Auckland to be one step away from his first title of the season.

Ferrer – Monfils 6-1 6-2

The world no.5 had a good match against Monfils to win in only 49 minutes. Gael looked really tired to not oppose any resistance. Ferrer won 56 points against Monfils’ 26 without conceding a single break point.

“It was bad luck for Gael,” Ferrer said. “He was tired after the match yesterday (against Haas).”

“David is an incredible player, and today I was very tired,” Monfils said. “Against a player like that, he’s very powerful and it’s very physical.”

Kohlschreiber – Querrey 6-4 7-6 (2)

On the other side of the draw there was another fast semifinal (but not an easy one) as the German won in only 77 minutes.  Philipp was particularly in the second set tiebreak when he had a very fast 6-0 lead to winning it at 2.

“I have to say, it was a really great match from my side,” Kohlschreiber said. “I played unbelievable.”
