2014 ATP World Tour Calendar announced

We have just started the 2013 and we already have the 2014 calendar.

In 2014 we will have 61 tournaments in all continents. The interesting part is that the South American swing will have another important tournament: an ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro.

The ATP in Rio

“The four-week South American swing including a new event in Rio de Janeiro is an exciting development for the sport. There are significant opportunities for growth in South America, a region that has become a key focus for us as we look to grow and develop the sport in that territory.” said Brad Drewett, ATP Executive Chairman & President.

1 week buffer before the WTF

The ATP corrected the “big mistake” of not allowing players to rest between the 1000 ATP in Bercy and the World Tour Finals.

“Following careful consideration and feedback from our tournament and player members, the prevailing consensus for the benefit of our key stakeholders was to reinstate a week’s break in between the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event in Paris and our season-ending event in London,” added Drewett.

Change of surface in Acapulco

Finally Acapulco will change it’s surface from clay to hard courts in order to help players to prepare for the Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells. Maybe RAfa will give it a miss in 2014…
