Djokovic v Berdych: pick and preview – 2013 Australian Open

In these days Nole is always the favorite when he plays with anybody, but on Tuesday it won’t be like that… at least this time.

The Djoker survived a huge 5 hours scare against Wawrinka that played like a superhero (funny enough… that was not enough to defeat the world no.1).

Nole (unfortunately) will pay for it

Djokovic won the match with the Swiss, but most probably this match will cost him the entire tournament. In fact, this epic came too early. It’s very different from the famous 2009 AO semifinal that Rafa won against Verdasco in 5 hours and 14 minutes. In that case Rafa had to recover to spend just everything it had to defeat a wobbling Federer in the final. It was “only” one match to go.

To win the Australian Open Nole should defeat a very fresh Berdych, then Ferrer (that he would give him a huge marathon) and then probably either Murray (another marathon man) or Federer that would take full advantage on a completely dead tired Nole.

Vs. Berdych

Nole is as fit as it can get, but 5 hours is far too much. 1 day recover is not enough and he will start his match with the Czech knowing that the Serb can’t just go for a distance, and Tomas… knows it!

Tomas is playing quite well and he is pretty fresh as he didn’t lose a single set so far.

Head to Head

Nole leads 11-1… but this may not count tomorrow.

Our pick is Berdych in 4 or 5 sets.
