Ana was back to Pattaya where she was also seeded n.1, but she couldn’t beat the world no.60 Ayumi Morita.
This match was a bit of a thriller as it was completed only after the 3rd day because of the heavy rain in Pattaya. Ivanovic and Morita could resume their game only on Thursday after the match was suspended when the Japanese was leading 3-6 7-5 2-1.
Morita now has been scheduled to play the second match also on Thursday against veteran Kimiko Date-Krumm (also Japanese). There is a difference of 20 years between the two!
Defending champion Daniela Hantuchova will play against Olga Puchkova in the morning to then play also in the afternoon (if she gets through) against Nina Bratchikova
