Dimitrov upset by Karlovic in Zagreb

He is coming? No is not… not yet at least.

Baby Federer struggles to mature and to make the decisive steps to top tennis. In January he has reached an inspiring final in Brisbane to give the impression to be ready to have a breakthrough in the top 20 (at least).

From that day he lost 4 consecutive matches with Murray (Brisbane final), Fognini (1st round in Sydney), Benneteau (1st round in Melbourne) and now with Ivo Karlovic.

To be fair with Grigor, Karlovic is a horrible customer on hard indoor. Now ranked world no.130 (a false rank as he is coming from a injury), the Croat is a 1 sided tennis with a serve that its arguably the best in tennis history and a “very below the average” ground strokes.

Ivo grabbed the match by winning 2 tiebreaks (typical stuff for the Croat). Both Karlovic and Dimitrov didn’t concede a single break point. Karlovic blasted 18 aces on 12 service games and he lost only 12 points out of 28 on his serve (4 points out of 40 on his first serve, 6 out of 28 on the second).

The match finished after 90 minutes (a quick one for a double tiebreak… but it was about “boom-boom” tennis).

Again, Karlovic is a very tricky player especially on indoor hard courts… but Dimitrov has to start to win also this kind of matches.
