Serena and Azarenka to play the final in Doha

Vika – Serena…. the 2013 final at the Qatar Open couldn’t be any better. It’s about the world no.1 playing the “will be world no.1”.

In fact, whatever the result is going to be in the final, Serena will overtake Vika in the WTA rankings as the new world no.1 after this week.

Both players got to the final in style with smooth and fast semifinals.

Serena Williams – Sharapova 6-3 6-2

Another defeat for Maria that lost the 10th consecutive match against Serena. The match lasted only 73 minutes. Maria as never managed to break Serena to be broken 3 times.

“Conditions were a little tough,” said Serena. “Maria’s always playing really well and she’s just so consistent, so I’m trying to be consistent as well.”

“I love it here in Doha,” she added.  “I’ve never played this particular tournament but I’ve played in Doha before and had some good results, and I hope to have a good result in the final tomorrow, too.”


Azarenka – Radwanska 6-3 6-3

Another quick semifinal here as the match lasted only 78 minutes. Vika was broken only once to break Agnieszka 4 times. 

Talking about the final against Serena, Vika said 

“I just have to be consistent and really focused on my own game. We all know she has a great serve. She’s really aggressive and really consistent. So for me it’s important to just focus on myself and execute my game.”

 

The final

Head to head is 11-1 for Serena that won the last 9 matches dropping only 2 sets. The American is the hot favourite!
