Paula Badosa Gibert had an extremely rough experience in Melbourne. The upcoming Spaniard arrived in Australia on a flight that registered a person positive for Coronavirus so as to endure strict quarantine. Unfortunately, after a few days that she was in confinement, she also tested positive and with symptoms. Therefore, Paula was taken to a “health center” to recover.

I feel abandoned

During an interview with La Marca, the world no.67 admitted that the situation was rather discomforting and she was feeling abandoned. She is still hopeful to play in the Australian Open, but she has not even received the training equipment.

“I feel abandoned because I don’t have training equipment which I requested five days ago, I haven’t been told which type of the virus I have, I’ve had no information from the tournament,” she commented.

In theory, Badosa should be discharged by the 31st of January. This means that she will have enough time to regain some of her fitness to play the Australian Open that will commence on the 8th of February. However, if they establish that she has the British variant, she will come out from the quarantine for the 5th of February to have no chances to be ready for the slam.

“I have lost a lot of my fitness levels, especially my strength. If I can come out on January 31 I’ll have a week to get in shape. If it’s February 5 it’ll be impossible to recover in time,” said Paula.
