Good win for Jelena Jankovic. The former world no.1 has been struggling for some years to get back to her best tennis, and she needed a title after winning Indian Wells in 2010.
It took only 74 minutes for Jelena to defeat Paula Ormaechea (world no.132) 6-1 6-2. The Serbian broke the Argentine 4 times without being broken once.
From Jankovic
“I had a wonderful week here,” said the Serbian. “It’s been an amazing experience. I’m so happy I was able to come here to Bogota for the first time and winning my 13th WTA title here makes the experience even better.”
“I want to congratulate Paula for such a great tournament this week, playing so well and beating such good players. I’m sorry I had to beat you, Paula. But I think you’re playing really good tennis, and I wish you the best of luck for the rest of the upcoming season.”
