Ferrer battles past Fognini to reach the final in Acapulco

It seems that David is becoming better and better as he ages. The Spaniard had another solid match to defeat a tenacious Fognini in 2 hours and 23 minutes.

Ferrer defeated the Italian the previous week in the quarters in Buenos Aires 6-2 6-1, but this match was quite different. The Italian stepped up in the second set to win a complicated tiebreak at 5 to bring the match at the decider.

Then Fabio imploded to lose 6-1 without any energy left. Ferrer won a total 110 points against Fognini’s 93.

Ferrer will play another Spaniard in the final as Almagro and Nadal will will play in the other semifinal.
